ABSENTEE VOTING
GENERAL INFORMATION
State law permits absentee ballots to be cast at any election by any voter who properly requests a ballot. If a voter is interested in voting in a particular election, but is unable to go to the polling place on election day, then the voter should an obtain an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots become available the Town Clerk's Office (613 Back Belmont Road) thirty (30) days prior to the election.
REQUESTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT
Belmont voters wishing to obtain an absentee ballot can order their ballots now by one of three options:
1. Order via website https://www1.maine.gov/cgi-bin/online/AbsenteeBallot/index.pl
2. Mail or deliver absentee request form to the Town Office https://www.maine.gov/sos/cec/elec/upcoming/index.html
3. Call the Town Office at 342-5722 to request an absentee ballot.
RETURNING YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT
All completed absentee ballots must be received in the Town Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. You can return your ballot a few ways:
- BY MAIL – Please request and return your ballot early enough to allow for postal mail delivery time. Please factor in time both to have the ballot mailed to you and have it mailed back (at least 5-7 days each way).
- IN PERSON – The Town Office at 613 Back Belmont Road.
